Anwar Ibrahim

He is one of the most influential man in the world and i totally envy that. He is the man who has achieved a lot in life and a man with vengeance inside. I also admire his outspoken personality where he has smoked all the members of the parliament. He can be a good lawyer instead.

But what is he striving for? keAdilan? Equity for all? By abolishing Malay rights then Malaysians will achieve equity? I don't think so.

He was the founding leader of Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) then later joined UMNO which has shocked his followers. He is a man with full of greed in his heart. His ideology also changes from time to time depending on what the 'rakyat' wants.

He used to fight for Malay rights and also one of the bloomers of the New Economic Policy. During economic crisis in 1998, he urged the government to support the International Monetary Fund (IMF) plan for recovery, which meant a restructuring of the economy involving opening up to greater foreign investment and competition. Everyone knows what happened to close neighbor, Indonesia and how it has been 'colonized' by the States.

He is also very close to Paul Wolfowitz , the former US Deputy Secretary of Defense. This may sound fishy why Anwar Ibrahim befriended with the devil of war in Iraq. He seem inconsistent from what he is preaching, from an Islamic figure, UMNO who supports the Malays and to Liberalism. It is clear that he is trying to gain support from the public by changing his ideology.

The fact is that, there will be no equality existed even if he abolishes the Malay privileges from Article 153. The Malays will still be left out and there will be a big gap between other races mainly Chinese as the Chinese monopolize the economic in Malaysia. What UMNO is trying to do is to lower the gap, not being racist or vice versa. Are the Malays ready to face the globalization? We have yet to achieve the 30% equity and speaking of 30% it is just half of our total race. By any yardstick, the Malays are still left behind. Give UiTM a break, the students here are good enough to compete with other races although they are lack of personality due to racial polarisation. Maybe I am ready to face the challenge, but what about the others? What about students from provincial states? The weak government has caused other races to claim for their so called rights. I would like to emphasize that by implementing NEP, it wouldn't affect other races right.

He has a good bond with the States and i don't think that this is a good sign. Anything can happen to our lovely nation. Just take a look at Singapore and Indonesia and evaluate yourself.

Regrets

Too many to mention and some I couldn't recall. I regret that I did not take enough diligence to apply for scholarship to pursue my studies overseas where my diploma result was quite outstanding. My best offer was from The University Of Exeter in UK. There is no explanation needed for that university where everyone is informed that it is #1 business school and top 20 in UK. It has showed that I am qualified to take the challenge there. Last week, I sent my comrade to the airport to pursue his studies in UK, I envy him. Now, I am back to square one, UiTM Melaka taking Finance. There is nothing much that I can do but to work smart.

Respect

'Respect can't be bought but gain'. That is what everyone has been talking about. I don't see why some of my friends especially my old comrades in Malacca don't respect me as a person. Maybe they will realise it someday.

Family

I really miss my family especially my beloved mother, the one who has sacrificed her time and money for me and has loved me unconditionally. She always support me in whatever doings and never coerced me to do anything that I do not favor. Sooner or later, It'll be my turn to do the same for her. I'd do anything, just anything to make her happy although it will never reaches the same level of what she has done. I'd be lost if I lost her. I love you mak, I really miss you.

Studies

My studies are deteriorating compared to my diploma years. Time are fully occupied with assignments and events, or probably been having too much fun here. But definitely I have failed to organise my time well. My flaws are as clear as the sky, it is obvious that I am very poor at time management. Maybe I should go for a counselling.

Cars

I am driving a Myvi now and I realise that it is depreciating in value from time to time as I have used to for more than 3 years now. Owning a Myvi was never in list where I really look up for Toyota Celica or at least Satria GTi. Sports car is my passion where I love to drive fast or may I say 'recklessly', hitting sharp corners and not to forget that I have a deep passion for In-Car-Entertainment.

Music

I am not biased to any genres but I am more into Gangsta Rap, R&B, Soul and Jazz. Gangsta Rap artists like Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Warren G and Rakim shouldn't be forgotten. They have brought Gangsta Rap music to another level. Everyone knows that Gangsta Rap is dead. R&B pioneers like Jodeci, Mint Condition, Aaron Hall, Damion Hall, Dru Hill and R Kelly are incomparable compared to the recent R&B artists like T-Pain, Chris Brown and whatsoever. Todays R&Bs are full of autotune and they can't even perform live. There's no talent in them. I have just realised that Jazz is one of the most decent music of all time where initially Jazz musics are only for the 'white collar' people. Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Diana Krall are one of the few to mention.

Izzati Aziz

I guess that most of you do not need any further explanation about this beautiful girl. She is my heart and soul. For some of you who do not know, I am here in UiTM Malacca because of her. We have been together for 7 months now, time has passed by like a lightning. In my humble opinion, time frame is insignificant where although we have yet to reach 1 year, we have shared and been thru a lot together. We have loved each other unconditionally. She is totally different for the people that I have met throughout my lives. I have a very good bond with her as well as her families. Apart from her, her father is one of a kind. He is very humble, friendly and knowledgeable. We do chat sometimes and always invite me to drop by to his place. Her mom is one of a sweet person, she doesn't talk much but she is a nice person too. 'What a wonderful world', that is what I always have in mind. I always thank god for giving me such pleasures. She is my everything, I really want to be the father of her child. Insyaallah.

Competitiveness In UiTM

I have given a speech about the advantages and the disadvantages of New Economic Policy infront of the class last thursday. It was a short and concise speech where it only took 10 minutes for me to deliver it. It was quite satisfying but due to time constraint, I couldn't elaborate it any further.

For this article I would like to emphasize on the competitiveness in UiTM. Everyone is aware about the racial polarisation in UiTM and due to this, it has decreased the competitiveness in UiTM. But it is true to a certain extent that we should not allow any other races to enter UiTM due to protecting our rights. Besides that, Malays have less opportunities in terms of studying at other places due to lack of qualification and poor fluency in english. As a matter of fact, UiTM is the only 'free' university in the world. This privileges should only be given to the Malays. Many Malay families can't afford to send their children to other local and private universities due to financial constraint, UiTM will be their only hope because and without the existence of UiTM, Malays will definitely be left behind as our economic equity is only 18.7% in 2004.

Are UiTM graduates ready to face the globalization or even face other faces in the future when racial polarisation is existed? Just imagine when they have spent at least 3 years with our own race, how are they going to develop their mentality? How about the students that came from the rural area and even the students from metropolitan area where they have a provincial frame of mind going to think 'outside the box'? How do UiTM students are going to get employed where most students are not fluent in english and do not possess strong personality. Most chinese employers do not recruit UiTM students due to these factors. Sadly UiTM graduates has set the highest unemployment rate which at 16.2% out of the total numbers of graduates in UiTM.

Most importantly, is it even more difficult t0 get employed nowadays due to 'UiTM students demonstration in 2008' where they have labeled us as racists. Just take a look at Malaysia-today where most bloggers have condemned UiTM. I have to admit that UiTM students are lacking of quality students due to racial polarisation. I urge the present government and even the administration of UiTM to implement something that can improve the competitiveness in UiTM and most importantly, I urge all the lecturers in UiTM to converse fully in english where lecturers will set good examples to the students.

Why BN lost the 12th General Election?

As far as everyone is concern, BN has lost five states and failed to win over Kelantan. It was such a big disgrace for the party itself, this is because BN never lost this bad before and this can be considered as the worst performance by BN. There are many reason for the lost of this party. I just want to give my humble opinion regarding this issue, so the reasons are;

Corruption
Cronism
Vote rigging
Failure to implement NEP effectively
Racism
No equal rights
PM himself is not firm
PM himself is considered as a hyprocrite where he keeps talking about Islam Hadhari but his wife does not even wearing tudung
Increase in fuel price
Increase in toll price
Problematic candidates for the recent elections
KJ
etc etc...

Basically, there are more reason that has made BN lost but this is what i can recall. BN still can recover, but it may takes time to make them convinced. In my humble opinion, BN is still relevant but there are many rooms of improvement and a lot of work has to be done to gain back the trust of the people.

New Economic Policy - Should be dismantled?

New Economic Policy, this has been a hot issue lately where everyone is arguing about the relevance of this policy as well as the implementation. So I'm taking this opportunity to this discuss about this hot issue.
The NEP had the stated goal of poverty eradication and economic restructuring so as to eliminate the identification of ethnicity with economic function. The initial target was to move the ratio of economic ownership in Malaysia from a 2.4:33:63 ratio of Bumiputra, Other Malaysian, Foreigner ownership to a 30:40:30 ration. This was to be done by redistributing the wealth to increase the ownership of enterprise by Bumiputras from the then 2.4% to 30% of the share of national wealth. The 30% target for Bumiputra equity was proposed by Ismail Abdul Rahman after the government was unable to come to a consensus on an appropriate policy goal.
Alongside this redistribution of wealth was the goal of increased economic growth, which was mainly in the form of ISI. This economic growth would allow the non-Bumiputra share of the economy to decrease, while permitting the growth of non-Bumiputra business interests in absolute terms. In some quarters, this was referred to as "expanding pie theory": the Bumiputra share of the pie would increase, without reducing the size of the non-Bumiputra slices of the pie. This theory was first enunciated in the Second Malaysia Plan.
In 1975 the government created incentives to expand large-scale manufacturing industries and energy-intensive industries, targeting these industries and building policies around them. The Heavy Industries Corporation of Malaysia (HICOM), for example, was formed in order to assist in the manufacture of pig-iron, aluminium die casting, pulp and paper, steel, cement, motorcycle and heavy engineering. At the same time, export incentives were initiated.

Anyway, many people argued that this policy does not help any ethnic except for UMNO cronies. So how relevant is this statement?

First and foremost, the main goal of this policy is to help the Bumiputra in many ways, mainly to eradicate poverty. This policy also helps the Bumiputra to increase their market shares, provide opportunities as well as incentives. Just take a look at SME, they're giving us special rights by giving Bumiputra incentives to start business and as well as to expand it. We just need to have the initiative to grab the opportunities that we have and definitely the government will help us.

In terms of buying properties, Bumiputra are given 7% to 10% discounts. Just imagine if these benefits are not given to the Bumiputra. They will never have the chance to own a property, this is because the economy of Malaysia is owned by other races so they have the capital to buy.

Due to this policy, MARA is established. I am studying in UiTM and this institution is definitely under MARA. It has helped many poor malay people to have the opportunity to further their studies. UiTM is a free institution, in other words, the only free institution in Malaysia. Why do we have to ask more? We just have to grab the opportunities that has been given to us.

I somehow agreed that some of the implementation of this policy might be inappropriate. But look at the bright side, it has helped most of us to improve our quality of life. NEP, in my opinion is still relevant but needs a lot of improvement based on the implementation. I hope that cronism can be dismantled so everyone will have a fair opportunity.

I want to apologise for my limited knowledge about this policy, but at least this is what i can see and has proven infront of me.

First of all i would like to introduce myself, my name is Mohamad Azamuddin and currently still studying. I found out that blogging is a good way of expressing our opinions and this is not limited to seniority, gender, races and religion. We should be allowed to be given a freedom of speech. So in my blog, i just want to talk in a casual but in a intellectual way. Free to comment my upcoming post. Currently i am still busy with my studies so i will write more when i am free.
